Hey guys. I fixed the image/video links for the Breakout tutorial I did 3 years ago using the 'old' method of how the in-house VFX department for Battlestar Galactica did its rendering for its shots along with the basics for the compositing.
Keep in mind these techniques predate lightwave 9.0 and are very old, so make sure to use more modern rendering systems like the perspective camera and PRMB and skip the spinning light. Use the DP Dome light instead!

Everything else is pretty much the same.

Nice one Kat, thanks :)

I remember I did change to perspective and PRMB and also used DP Dome after reading your updated tutorial. Those DP lights are damn good to be honest. The infinate light give a much nicer shadow then the standard distant light too. Thanks for the advice :)

No problem Grim.
Oh yeah, totally know what you mean about the DP Light kit. Wish we had access to it on Season II and III, we could have upped the quality and reduced the render times by ages with them.
The DP Dome light also has a "backdrop mode". If you haven't given it a try, I highly suggest it. Load up a skydome HDRI image probe or something, blank it out with the black.png image (1x1 pixel still really of solid black) in the background compositing tab to block out the image probe from being seen by the camera, and then enable the "background" mode in the DP Infinite Light. It takes some getting used to but its amazing the results and the speed compared to backdrop radiosity in most cases. And while using the "occlusion shadows" mode in the light doesn't work with Fprime, it certainly does in Lightwave's renderer! WOW!

They are free to use, however they are not free to post on sites as stand alone downloads. Links to his site are fine.
